Fair warning: I try to keep things curated, so don't post all the photos I get. Good resolution, a clear view of your hair and having a style that is interesting/ different are all super important factors.
Mop Shots A social network of sorts for hair enthusiasts with the tagline "Where did you get your hair did?" Be forewarned: Some of the U.S's largest cities still remain pretty sparsely represented.
Hair On The Brain Blog from an L.A.-based reader. Mostly pictures of celebrities, and not just short haired ones, although there is a "Short Hair" section on the sidebar.
Behind the Chair Hairgasm! Among other things, Behind the Chair showcases the latest hair "Collections" from top salons. About 1/3 of the pics are of short cuts, too, so you won't be short of inspiration next time you make the trek to the salon.

Mia Farrow was so stupidly pretty in her younger days it almost makes me forgive her for the ridiculous 12 day hunger strike or whatever it was she went on a year or two ago. I know it was for a good cause, and yes it brought attention to Dafur, so I suppose I’ll cut her some slack. Plus, after having your partner run off with your adopted daughter, you really can’t blame a gal if she goes slightly bat-shit crazy. And in the scheme of things, amazingly, it seems she’s stayed mostly sane.
Anyway, Mia Farrow! Seriously. So perfect I’d gasp if I saw someone like this in person as would every man, woman or child with a pair of eyes.
Random fact: Did you know Tilda is polyamorous? From Wikipedia:
Swinton lives in Nairn, in the Highland area of Scotland, with Scottish painter John Byrne and their twin children: a son, Xavier, and a daughter, Honor. She travels with her partner Sandro Kopp, a German/New Zealand painter. She has been with Kopp since 2004 and the relationship has Byrne’s blessing. In an interview, Swinton commented on her domestic situation: “It’s the way we have been for nearly four years. I’m very fortunate. It takes some extraordinary men to make a situation like that work.
I’m waiting on my various holiday fixings to cook, and thought y’all might like a peek at my hair semi-grow out progression. I hate taking self portrait shots. I mean, do you look at the camera? Do you look away? It’s hard to do either without feeling a little pretentious…
Today, remember to give your family ample hugs and tell ‘em you love them while you can. My family is far, far, far away, and only wish I could do the same.
I just donated my hair to Locks of Love… and I’m totally diggin’ the short hair! It’s my first pixie cut and it was halfway down my back before I cut it. Why did I wait so long to do this??
Great work! The cut is absolutely perfect on you. Readers - Notice the slightly shorter cut on the left side. This helps gives some “edge” to an otherwise very feminine, delicate short haircut. The little details are important, and are what can separate a “ho-hum” haircut from something really brilliant like this.
I’ve never seen Emma Watson act and could care less about Harry Potter, but I feel the need to do an obligatory post on her new haircut that everyone’s talking about.
What do you guys think?
Personally, her Mia Farrow attempt is drawing a big yawn for me. She’s a pretty girl and has a good face for short hair (more people do than you’d think) but the hairstyle itself… it’s just boring. Nothing special about her or about it. If you’re going to chop off your hair as part of your career makeover attempt, you might as well make the style somewhat interesting. Next.
I got a quickie neck and bang trim today in the Lower Haight, and it made a world of difference compared to the “style” I was sporting when you saw me last.
The best part? It was $50 cheaper than a full cut - proof you don’t have to pay a hairstylist full price to make a noticeable, positive change! Haircuts are just too expensive - especially if you live in a city like San Francisco - so if you’re growing out your hair, save the bones for when you really, really can’t stand it anymore. In the meantime, stick to the neck and bang trims to keep everything in check.
A note from this blog’s author…errrr, photo poster extraordinaire:
I took a picture today to see what the back/side of my hair looked like, and Holy Mother of God, I have hair! I plan to grow it out a bit more, have my hairdresser shape it up a bit and then stop. It’s pretty boring at the moment besides the fact that I HAVE HAIR.
